GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS HOST FILM FESTIVALS

Academic News

Brown, Cain, Higgins and Stanton-Smith gifted and talented students hosted their first ever Film Festival which was a culmination of their “Lights, Camera, Action!” study. Students produced their own movies which involved, script writing, acting, filming, directing, designing scenes and props, editing video and audio clips, promoting their movie and creating sound effects. Families were invited to a movie premiere night at each elementary campus where the G/T students served refreshments (Coke and popcorn of course!), signed autographs and encouraged fans to take pictures with the “stars” from the films at the photo booth. All four Film Festivals were huge hits! Watch out Hollywood – Whitehouse has some talent!

AROUND THE WORLD AT BROWN ELEMENTARY

District News
Brown Elementary hosted the 5th annual Around the World at Brown Elementary: International Day. Students and their families participated in sharing cultures and countries from around the world. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about different places and to ask questions too! The 5th graders incorporated their knowledge of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and symbols to show younger students. They also brought personal Items from where their families had traveled. These items came from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii and as close as Austin, Texas. It was a great success for all.
