Students in a classroom use computers for a learning activity.

Internet Safety/Digital Citizenship

Whitehouse ISD utilizes an online program called Neptune Navigate to teach students about the importance of good digital citizenship and internet safety. Neptune Navigate provides comprehensive online modules customized for students. The modules can be accessed in the classroom and at home. The material is age-appropriate and includes short videos, interactive knowledge checks, interactive reading assignements, and quizzes for the older students. The monthly topics (digital citizenship, cyberbullying, digital footprint, social media, media literacy, privacy, and age appropriateness) are aligned with the district characteristics of a graduate in keeping with the Vision and Mission of Whitehouse ISD. Parent Tips and information can also be found on the website.

CIPA Compliance Statement:

The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is mandated by federal law enacted by Congress to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet on school computers.  Whitehouse ISD is compliant with CIPA, providing technologies that go above and beyond content filtering to ensure our children are protected.

Video & Media Technology

Procedure for Video Viewing

  1. Teacher fills out the Visual Media Approval Google Form.
  2. Principal approves or denies the request by email.
  3. If the teacher is showing the video, AND it is a video from the Learning Resource Center (LRC), the Media Technology Specialist will need to see proof of principal approval. If the video is not from the LRC, nothing more needs to be done.
  4. If the video is to be shown in the LRC, the teacher will need to show proof of principal approval and verify the requested date and time for the showing. The MTS will respond with a confirmation notice of date, time, and channel number.
